McCown Could Be Essential to Browns Future

As many of you already know, the Cleveland Browns signed free agent quarterback Josh McCown to a three-year deal on Friday night. The deal includes more than $6 million in guaranteed money and will likely signify the end of the Brian Hoyer era in Cleveland.

McCown is not a franchise savior, he is not going to get you to the Super Bowl, and isn’t likely going to win your team a ton of games with his talent. In all honesty, he isn’t as good as Brian Hoyer, but that might not be a bad thing right now.

The writing was clearly on the wall that Hoyer’s days were numbered in this organization. When the team benched him in favor of Johnny Manziel, especially given Manziel’s performance (or lack thereof), it said what the team really felt about him, he’s good, can win some games, but it is obvious he isn’t…
